I never received my confirmation e-mail with my authorization code
(This applies to DLS versions 2.0.7 and older.) Once you have entered all of your registration information including the CD Key found with your CD, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing an authorization code that you may need to enter to finalize registration of your software. The e-mail confirmations are sent within a few seconds of registration and the Subject line reads: "DLS New Registration."
If you didn`t receive an e-mail confirmation with the authorization code, most likely you accidentally entered an incorrect e-mail address or have a "spam blocking" feature activated that does not accept e-mails from unverified senders.
If you have "spam blocking" on, turn it off temporarily.
If you don't have "spam blocking," you probably mistyped your e-mail address by accident. An incorrect e-mail address could simply be a mistyped letter or number or even an extra space before or after the e-mail address.
To correct this, you should uninstall the DLS and reinstall it by inserting the CD into your drive. Select "Install DLS" from the CD Menu that pops up and then follow the onscreen prompts to "uninstall" or "Remove" the DLS. After uninstalling the DLS, restart your computer and follow the installation instructions to install and activate it again.
If this doesn`t correct the problem, you may have a version of the software that does not support this method. To correct it, launch the Digital Learning System software and bypass the Activation screen if it pops up. Select "Help" from the menu at the top of the screen and select "License Management" and then "Change Registration Information." Correct your e-mail address and follow the prompts.
After changing your registration, select "Help" and "License Management" again. If "Upgrade DLS" is an option, select it and follow the prompts. If it isn't available, select "Inactivate DLS on this Computer" and then follow the prompts. Close the software and launch it again. Register as before.
When you launch the DLS, you will be asked to register again. Enter your information and CD Key as before -- make sure to double-check your e-mail address as well as your other registration information. You should receive an e-mail confirmation in a few seconds. Just "copy and paste" your authorization in the code Authorization Code box in the Digital Learning System activation window to complete activation.
If you have tried all of the above steps and still have not received your authentication e-mail, please submit a support request and include your CD-Key and Product Code in your message.
DLS cannot detect an internet connection or cannot detect the registration server
These errors are usually caused by locally installed software security programs such as firewalls, anti-virus and anti-spyware applications.
If you receive either message, make sure that you have an active Internet connection by launching a Web browser.
After you have verified you have an internet connection, make sure that you have temporarily disabled all antivirus or firewall applications.
These programs can prohibit successful activation of software and cause installation of many types of software to be incomplete or corrupted. Some of these programs do not fully shutdown even if disabled, since they often utilize background services. If you are experiencing connection issues and have Norton Internet Security installed, it is often inadequate to simply disable the program. In this case, you should uninstall Internet Security, reboot and then try activating DLS again. If you are installing the software at an office, school, library, etc., you should contact your Systems Administrator since your network setup will likely not be set to default values.
Also, make sure that you have fully updated Windows and Office. If you are running Windows XP, make sure that you are the only user currently logged in and that you have Administrator privileges.
To activate DLS over the internet try the following steps:
1. Open Internet Explorer to verify your internet connection is working. Minimize the Browser.
2. At the bottom right of your screen in the system tray (next to the clock) look for any applications which may be securing your internet connection.
3. Examples of these include: Zone Alarm Firewall, McAfee Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware, Norton Internet Security or Anti-Virus, etc.
4. Close or disable ALL of these programs. You can usually perform this by right-clicking on the program`s icon in the system tray and select Exit, Close or Disable.
5. Double click on the Digital Learning System icon on your desktop.
6. Complete the registration / activation process. It should not have any problems now.
7. Afterwards, you can re-enable all your security programs since DLS no longer needs an internet connection.
